I do wonder when Chirac will write his book and pay special attention to this period just before the invasion. Shrub needs to be exposed for the lying, stupid brat that he is. And all those sycophants who fawn around him; they too need to be expunged from public office for being gutless and indirectly culpable for letting these war crimes happen.

I'm pretty sure that all those lies are grounds for impeachment.

Yes, It's clear that Bush had no idea what he was getting us into. Neither did Howard, but we shouldn't be too surprised at that.

That and his mental condition.
Well, I think that this report should be splashed across new stations everywhere - Zack is right, it should be grounds for impeachment - if not, Shrub must be brought up on war crimes for all the people he's gotten killed and the country he has destroyed...
I see ....................Hmmm.

Well I am not surprised, should I be?

I don't think so!
"The Egyptians are talking to Saddam Hussein ... He seems to have indicated he would be open to exile if they would let him take one billion dollars and all the information he wants on weapons of mass destruction."

The title is misleading, he wasnt willing to walk JUST for one billion dollars, he was also asking for all the information on weapons of mass destruction.

What do you think Saddam was going to do with 1 billion dollars and the plans for weapons of mass destruction?

It depends what he meant by "information on WMD". Seems more likely to me that he would be referring to the UN inspectors reports which indicated there were none.
We dont really know though, do we? Its almost impossible to second guess what he was asking for without knowing everything else he said. Also i find it puzzling why the conversation wasnt released before now. Why wait until we are already so far into the Iraq war, why not release them earlier?
Goodness me Robin,

I hope you are not proposing there were WMD's to have information about. The only real WMD info would have to be the UN reports. Otherwise he was talking about details of the US "fit up".

Sadly for the US, this is one of their greatest embarrassments. Colin Powell has had to admit he got suckered over the WMD claim.

To hint at Sadam leaving and being able to threaten the world with WMD's requires a fair amount of that famous American paranoia.
No thats not what im saying at all. If Saddam already had WMD's he wouldnt of needed the information. Without knowing specifically what he was asking for we dont know for sure what he wanted.

Saddam did want WMDs that is a fact, i dont think anyone thats heard any of his speeches would deny that. He even actually claimed to have them, although i think that was more for bluff then anything. ( the info he wanted them came from his own broadcasts in Iraq while he was in charge)

Without knowing specifically what he did ask for we either have to assume he was talking about the inspection sheets from the UN, which to me makes no sense because the UN papers were no benefit to him. The whole world knows what was in those papers, or he was asking for information on WMD's so he could get them or use them in some other way. I doubt anyone would deny Saddam wasnt exactly a rational thinker, some of things he did were completely irrational so who really knows what the man asked for or wanted.
Thank goodness for that.

I thought you were trying to open up the WMD issue again.

There's no doubt Sadam was a couple of bricks short of a load. Making grandiose claims certainly turned out to be a bad idea.
