Funny, I thought most Presidents started their State of the Union (SOTU) addressed with "The state of our union is strong." Maybe he finished on that line, honestly I didn't make it that far in before my gag reflex got the better of me and I had to tune it out. Gotta give me props for trying, this is the first time I have.
Or maybe he omitted it because the state of the union is really in disarray. We have no real plan for our economic situation (in case your are paying attention and this sentence will bore even me) our currency is close to worthless in most of the industrialized world (thanks in large part to that developing country, China, which seems to just be developing into a threat to us and the environment, and I have nothing against them and hope we can work out some arrangement that helps both nations but we elected someone who is not an idiot but whose world view is just strange -- twice so I have little hope for this), plus and this is really dull, the subprime market is doing bad things to -- you know I have no idea what it is doing. I do know that a bunch of banks loaned money to people with crappy credit scores so they could buy houses. That's called subprime lending. In return for lending these poorer people money to buy stuff they could not afford, for the most part, they charged them outrageous interest (look it up, I am not Wikipedia). Now, they can't pay and many have lost their homes and savings. This in turn has impacted credit companies, and credit card companies, who so something similar -- they charge you variable interest depeding on your credit score and probably never menton it to you unless you read the really fine print that's housed in their offices in India. All of this has caused a market that is shaky because as they say in some circles (not mine), Main Street (you know, where you may shop) is nervous and therefore pepole aren't spending money and that drives down stock prices and you get Wall Street worried and if that wasn't a, too far off and b, as close as I can come to explaining this in terms I understand. Maybe you see the cycle. Add in worries over the war in Iraq and general global insecurities over who we ae going to bomb next and I'd call that American Crap Casserole. None of this was addressed in the address because it was Dubya's last, and who really wants to go out on a bad note when you can just fudge your way through the thing the way you have spent the last eight years. He even managed to talk about that yellowcake Iraq was never seeking to buy from Niger. Wow. And he was smiling.
In a year he will be gone. Despite all the pundits and there polls and stats and 'expertise' it looks like both parties will take this one to the Convention. THIS MEANS IT WILL NOT BE OVER ON FEBRUARY 5TH AND YOU CAN VOTE FOR ANYONE. I am so sick of this ( on the D side) being only about Obama and Hillary. I may just vote for my cat but John Edwards is still viable. It's my story and I am sticking with it. And while I am at it -- Go Ron Paul. he should get HUGE props for interesting ways to get his name out. Hope the FAA let his blimpfly, I would like to see it.
Hey, I am a Met fan. I always love the underdog. GO JOHN EDWARDS! GO RON PAUL!
