Personally - I think its a good thing that Karl Rove does not swear to tell the truth under oath. That allows him to lie freely about the firings of the attorneys. Besides, if Karl Rove swore to tell the truth on a Bible - we would lose all of Washington because God would send down a massive lightening bolt to strike down Rove.....
I have always been curious about the theory that you can "testify" but not under oath. Do they realize what massive liars these people look like when they say this stuff??? Condi didn't testify under the oath for the 911 Commission, now Rove and HArriet Meiers are going to testify but not under oath. Seems to me like a free pass to lie.
Edit to add additional info -
George W Bush has declared this offer to allow his people to "testify" without an oath, in private and without any written record was a reasonable offer. WHATEVER!!! He also spent the day threatening Democrats that the American people would be angry if they refuse. Guess what Herr Bush - I am an American and I think your offer is ridiculous

That's screwed up. Honest, but screwed up nonetheless.
Maybe nobody wants to testify under oath before a political circus committee because they know they'll be set up for bogus perjury charges regardless of what they say.
Witness the predicament of Scooter Libby. Unfortunately it's probably too late for the President to recover from the poor judgement of allowing Libby to twist in the wind for not remembering exactly who said what when about something that ultimately made no difference to anything or anybody.
Ahh the politically driven trials. Sorry but I don't feel sorry for them. They contend that they did nothing wrong - let them show that by testifying under oath and on the record. I know it gets difficult for Rove to remember which version of the truth he is telling this week, after all he is getting up there in age...
You know, I have to laugh at Republicans who whine about the evil agenda the dems have against them. I seem to remember a certain Ken Star with a massive hate on for President Clinton. It seems to me that he was supposed to be investigating White Water and when he couldn't make that stick - he went on a witch hunt and pulled out every dirty card he could think. He didn't stop until he cornered Clinton about consensual sex with an adult. Seems to me that was the biggest waste of money in taxpayer history - besides the Iraq War.
I love it when the Republicans whine about the dems doing to them what the Republicans did to others...
Rove:"No"
"Please be seated"
Prosecutor: "What the f....?"
This will be hilarious in any law show, not in real life.
Karl Rove always told the truth, except when his lips moved.
